Prague Municipal House (Obecni Dum)

The Municipal House (Obecni Dum in Czech) is a popular concert hall, restaurant, and a beautifully decorated historical building at the border of Prague Old Town, between Namesti Republiky and Na Prikope Street. Other streets around Prague Municipal House include Celetna (direct way to Old Town Square), Kralodvorska (with several good hotels), and Hybernska Street. There are several other landmarks and important buildings next to the Municipal House, including Powder Gate, Czech National Bank HQ, and Hybernia Theatre. The metro station next to the Municipal House is Namesti Republiky (on line B).

The Municipal House is situated in the centre of a large tourist and hotel district. There are many hotels in all directions from the Municipal House. The streets around Namesti Republiky are popular 5 star hotel addresses. Hotels in Old Town (behind the Municipal House) are mostly 3 star to 5 star hotels, typically in renovated historical buildings with great atmosphere. The area around Na Prikope Street and the nearby Wenceslas Square is more lively, with many shops and plenty of nightlife options (rooms facing main streets can be noisy). Quieter and often cheaper hotels can be found in the streets outside the typical tourist locations – such as the streets between Namesti Republiky and Florenc or some streets between the Municipal House and the Main Train Station.
