The Charles Bridge is one of the best known landmarks of Prague. It is strategically located halfway from the Old Town to Prague Castle. There are many accommodation options at both sides of the Vltava River in immediate proximity to the Charles Bridge. Besides great location, many Charles Bridge hotels offer an amazing view of the Prague Castle. Off course the Vltava River waterfront is occupied mostly by 5 star hotels and prices are high. However, there are many affordable 3 or 4 star hotels near Charles Bridge, located in the numerous narrow side streets.

Hotels in the Old Town and Lesser Quarter near Charles Bridge

On one end of the Charles Bridge, there is the Old Town, the historical centre of Prague with the Old Town Square and endless supply of stylish restaurants, clubs, and hotels. Across the river from the Old Town, overlooked by Prague Castle, there is another historical district called Lesser Quarter (Mala Strana in Czech). Compared to the Old Town, the Lesser Quarter is usually quieter, though it also has numerous good restaurants, hotels, and tourist attractions. Regardless of which bank of the Vltava river your hotel is situated, getting from the Old Town to the Lesser Quarter or the other way takes about 5 minutes – just over the Charles Bridge.

Booking Prague Charles Bridge hotels

Note that the historical centre of Prague, and especially the area near the Charles Bridge (on both sides of the river), is an extremely popular tourist spot and place to stay. In some periods of the year (like summer or spring) and around public holidays many hotels are sold out long in advance. It is therefore highly recommended to book your hotel in advance, especially when you are not flexible with dates. Also note that room prices often skyrocket if you book late.
