Prague Vitkov Hill

Vitkov is a hill overlooking Prague inner city in the north-east. Originally, Vitkov was part of Prague city fortification system. During the Hussite Wars Vitkov was the site of the Battle of Vitkov (1420 AD). Nowadays there is the Vitkov Monument (or Vitkov Memorial) on the top of the hill. Besides the monument, the whole surface of Vitkov is filled by a large park.

Prague Vitkov Hill location

Vitkov Hill is surrounded by the districts of Zizkov (in the south) and Karlin (in the north). These two districts are connected by a long pedestrian tunnel under Vitkov (in Zizkov the tunnel starts next to the crossing of Husitska and Chlumova streets; in Karlin it starts in Thamova Street near Krizikova Metro Station).

Hotels near Prague Vitkov Hill

Both Zizkov and Karlin have good accommodation options, although the concentration of hotels in these districts is of course much lower than in the prime tourist areas like Old Town or Wenceslas Square. In Zizkov most hotels can be found in Husitska Street and in the small streets between Husitska and Seifertova Street. Another good hotel location in Zizkov is Olsanske Namesti (Olsany Square). In Karlin, there are several 3 or 4 star hotels immediately next to Krizikova Metro Station.

Hotels near Florenc Station and Vitkov Hill

Vitkov Hill is also very close to Florenc Station (one metro stop from Krizikova), which is one of the most popular hotel locations in Prague, with a good selection of hotels in all price and quality categories, from budget hotels to 5 star hotels (e.g. Prague Hilton). Here you can see more details and tips about hotels near Florenc Station.
